A Safe and Supportive Place to Live Independently

Silverleaf accommodation provides

Secure, Accessible, and Affordable Specialist Disability Accommodation

for women aged 55 years and over in Victoria who wish to live independently while receiving support as required.

It is designed for women with minor disabilities or age-related functional limitations who do not require residential aged care but benefit from a supportive and well-designed living environment.

The model supports the Victorian Government’s commitment to ageing well in place, social inclusion, and housing stability for older women—one of the fastest-growing groups at risk of housing insecurity in Victoria. The accommodation prioritises independence, dignity, safety, and choice, enabling residents to maintain control over their day-to-day lives.

Community

Residents live in self-contained accommodation

with private kitchens, bathrooms, and living spaces, providing autonomy and personal privacy.

At the same time, the design incorporates optional shared spaces—such as communal rooms, gardens, or outdoor areas—to encourage social connection and reduce isolation.

Community engagement is encouraged but never required, allowing residents to choose the level of interaction that best suits their preferences and wellbeing.

Flexible, Low-Level Support

Support is non-intrusive and flexible, recognising that individual needs vary and may change over time. On-site or coordinated support may include:

  • Property and maintenance assistance

  • Light housekeeping or garden support

  • On-site management or tenancy support

  • Assistance to connect with external services, such as:

    • My Aged Care

    • NDIS (where applicable)

    • Community health services

    • Local government and neighbourhood programs

This approach aligns with Victorian models of housing with support, allowing residents to age in place and access services as needed without transitioning into higher-care accommodation prematurely.

Inclusive and Sustainable Housing Option

This accommodation model contributes to a more inclusive housing system in Victoria, responding to the needs of older women with limited housing options. It supports wellbeing, independence, and stability, while integrating accessibility, social connection, and appropriate support within a community-based setting.

Overall, the accommodation offers a safe, respectful, and empowering living option for women aged 55 and over in Victoria, enabling them to live independently, maintain their quality of life, and remain connected to their local communities.
